"We are currently building an airport in Berenice, which will be opened in a year and a half," said the governor of the Red Sea Governor, Ahmed Abdallah at a press conference at the ITB International Tourism Exchange in Berlin. Berenice is about 200 kilometers south of the private airport Marsa Alam, which is located at Port Ghaleb. This gives completely new possibilities for divers. The southernmost diving bases are currently located in Whadi Lahmi, some 40 kilometers north of Berenice.
