Reethi Beach (Fonimagoodhoo)

Ho soggiornato al Reethi Beach Resort per una settimana e quello che posso dire è che , onestamente, per la cifra spesa mi aspettavo qualcosa di più, soprattutto in termini di qualità del servizio offerto.
Sia chiaro: il panorama è stupendo, l'acqua semplicemente favolosa e il soggiorno è stato piacevole, però sto recensendo la struttura, non l'atollo.
A partire dalla seconda notte abbiamo avuto delle incursioni di scarafaggi in camera, nonostante soggiornassimo in una overwater. Abbiamo fatto subito presente il problema alla reception, che ci ha assicurato che "il giorno dopo" (non subito, dunque) avrebbero mandato qualcuno, cosa che ovviamente non è successa. Il giorno dopo, e dopo una notte insonne, abbiamo sollecitato l'intervento di un carpentiere per chiudere il buco dal quale ritevamo continuassero ad entrare gli scarafaggi ma l'unica cosa che hanno saputo fare è stato fornirci di spry insetticida. Morale della favola, dopo la terza incursione di scarafaggi (anche belli grossi) mio marito ha passato ben due ore a coibentare la stanza, tappando i buchi con la cartaigienica.
Per quanto riguarda il buffet (eravamo in trattamento all inclusive) direi nella media. Sicuramente di scarso livello l'intrattenimento, mentre molto cordiali i barman.

The island itself now and there is still a good deal of work going on to try and retain the shifting sands which I must say were shifting completely differently to last year. Some of this work is experimental. Despite the shifting sands and the ongoing work, you can still walk all the way round the island on the beach although ducking under the jettys will get you wet feet. All beach villas (as well as the deluxe villas) now have beach umbrellas. Some of the water villas did not have any water underneath them at the time of our visit but the shifting sands may change that. 212 was dry even at high tide.....211 and 213 only had shallow water.
The guests this year were from many countries, probably more than we've experienced before (with seemingly fewer English but quite a few Scottish). Reethi is obviously being marketed worldwide which is not a bad idea.....many islands aim to a smaller market and when that country experiences financial problems, as in the UK at the moment, guest numbers will fall. There were also quite a few children this time round.....more than we've seen on any Maldivian island (why aren't they at school?). Most of them were FAIRLY well behaved.....there was a couple of instances of children wandering around the breakfast buffet and some Japanese children, a family with 4 kids, were particularly noisy on the beach one evening.
