a parte il discorso che il diving del W Retreat ha già tolto circa 25.000 corone di spine sono interessanti questi passaggi

a) usano iniettarli aceto per ucciderle
b) le stelle hanno cambiato le loro abitdini (forse perchè consce del pericolo uomo) e di giorno stanno nascoste per uscire di notte

“We currently have teams entering the water and injecting the starfish with vinegar to kill them. We have also extended this procedure to other nearby reefs as this seems to be the area where they arrive from. So far more than 25,000 starfish have been killed. Also, the starfish behavior has changed as they are now hiding on the house reef during the day and come out to feed at night, which is why we have to dive in the dark to kill them.

incredibile si. Ora, lo dice questo signore del diving però forse potrebbe esserci una trasmissione di informazioni genetiche? :azz: :;bnc;:

:rir: ieri nn avevo tempo di riposrtarli. cmq brevemente:
- le COTs sono predatori notturni, il cambiamento nel loro comportamento l'hanno avuto dunque in passato quando l'outbreak era al massimo...
- il bleaching stà rendendo più difficile individuarle perchè prima era evidente dove mangiavano i coralli ora no

probailmente sono effettivamente notturne.
Il responsabile del diving del W Retreat non diveva però questo, correggimi sbaglio, ma che diversamente dal passato durante il giorno si nascondevano.
In effetti le corone di spine quando le si vedevano erano belle visibili sul corallo anche durante il giorno.
Lui dice che adesso tendono a stare nascoste.

La frase riportata nell'articolo dice:
"Also, the starfish behavior has changed as they are now hiding on the house reef during the day and come out to feed at night.."
che letteralmente tradotta è:
"Inoltre, il comportamento delle corone di spine è mutato, poichè ora si nascondono nella barriera corallina durante il giorno e vengono fuori per nutrirsi di notte"

Nell'intervento da me, lui ha specificato che nel periodo in cui erano tantissime erano fuori anche di giorno..
