CITAZIONE I have flown by that island so many times. It always drew the attention of the tourist but they seemed ambivalent. I have seen the early morning dhonis leaving some of the highest end resorts, under the cover of darkness full of garbage, not just "kitchen waste" most certainly to dump it. I have been to uninhabited islands to find them covered in garbage.I have flown over dhonis changing their oil or for what ever reason leaking fuel into the ocean while anchored to a reef. I have seen and highlight the amazing beauty of the Maldives with my pictures but I don't want them to be come some sort of recorded history of once was. I would instead hope they serve to inspire people to take pride ,as many do, but many more should do.Stop this madness of throwing things over the side of a boat . It may seem like one person can not make a difference but one person can set an example and influence others. Lead by example. Small steps such as taking your own canvas bag to to go shopping with, restaurants that serve soda from a dispenser to a glass rather than a plastic bottle. I do not mean to preach here and to be sure my home country of Canada still does its fair share to pollute but it is time to clean up our act as race of people.Take care of this paradise so our children children can feel what we take for granted rather than have only a picture to look at. IMHO (please forgive my grammatical errors in this rant), I feel that these stories will be the catalyst for action. These are hard realities for people. At first the reaction maybe one of denial or anger towards people who highlight this situation. I am confident though that shining a light on this situation is the only way to make it better for all who live in the Maldives and enjoy it only for a few short weeks.
